STIMULATION

We offer daily stimulation and developmental programs for each age group together with a monthly theme; the areas of development we focus on are socio-emotional, physical, cognitive, normative, language and creative development.

SOCIO-EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT

This involves acquiring the ability to share with others and to be considerate, dealing with emotions, handling conflict, the development of a healthy self-image, acceptance of discipline, etc.

PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT

Each phase of physical development is filled with challenges which need to be learned and established before entering the next phase; each new skill develops from a less organised skill. These skills include head control, rolling, sitting, crawling, standing, walking, climbing, running, jumping and balance.

COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT

Also known as intellectual development, this involves understanding, judging, problem solving, decision making, reasoning and recognising. Intelligence is based and influenced by the genetic intelligence inherited from parents and the total knowledge gained from experiences.

NORMATIVE DEVELOPMENT

This involves discipline, respect, responsibility and independency, etc. The purpose of discipline is to help children to identify with the demands of society. They must gradually learn that they are responsible for their own decisions; they must speak the truth, be honourable and respect others.

LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT

Language is the basic means of expressing emotions, and of communication. It is important for a child to learn the correct words through conversation, singing, recitation, acting, etc. Learning to talk is one of the most complex aspects of child development and involves listening, understanding and analysing information.

CREATIVE DEVELOPMENT

Creativity requires lateral thinking, originality, taking risks, questioning, flexibility, enthusiasm and inventiveness and are developed through finger painting, painting, drawing, colouring in, modelling with clay, cutting with scissors and pasting.
